Peter Zimri was appointed to the Sentech Board on 1 July 2025 as a Non-Executive Director. 

Peter is a seasoned ICT policy and regulatory specialist with more than three decades of experience in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors. His career reflects an exceptional blend of technical, regulatory, and leadership expertise, having served in senior roles across government, regulatory bodies, and the private sector. 

He is the Founder and Principal Consultant at ZIMRI Consulting, a firm that provides ICT policy and regulatory consulting services under the banner “Your Policy and Regulatory Corner.” 

Previously, Peter served two consecutive terms as an Executive Councillor at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), where he chaired the Spectrum Resources Committee and the IMT Spectrum Licensing Committee. During his tenure, he led South Africa’s first multi-band spectrum auction, raising R14.4 billion for the country. 

His leadership extended beyond South Africa, having served as Vice-Chairman of the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19), representing the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), and as Chairperson of the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA). 

Peter has also held senior technical and regulatory roles at Liquid Telecom (formerly Neotel), Number Portability Company, Pygma Consulting, and the Department of Communications, where he served as Chief Director: Radio and Satellite Communications. His career began at Telkom SA, where he gained extensive experience in radio frequency monitoring and telecommunications engineering. 

 With a wealth of expertise in spectrum management, ICT policy, and governance, Peter brings valuable regulatory insight and technical depth to the Sentech Board, supporting the organisation’s mission to drive connectivity and digital transformation in South Africa.
