eMBALENHLE 5G SMART VILLAGE INITIATIVE EXECUTIVE VISIT
The SENTECH team, together with our CEO, Tebogo Leshope, conducted an in-person visit to the eMbalenhle 5G deployment to observe progress on the ground and experience first-hand the impact of this important initiative.
The deployment currently spans four key sites in the area, Middelbult Tower, Zamokuhle, Lifalethu, and eMbalenhle Central site. These sites are already generating strong interest within the eMbalenhle community, reinforcing the clear demand for reliable broadband and highlighting the transformative opportunities that advanced connectivity can unlock across households, businesses, and public services.
This initiative represents far more than a technology rollout. It is a powerful platform for innovation, digital inclusion, and the creation of new economic and social opportunities. By bringing high-speed connectivity to underserved areas, we are actively contributing to bridging the digital divide and enabling communities to participate more fully in the digital economy.
The positive response from the community, schools affirm the relevance and importance of the work being done. It also underscores the role Sentech continues to play as a key enabler of connectivity and national development.

Portfolio Committee on Communication and Digital Technologies Oversight Concludes Visit in Limpopo Province
This is an oversight visit to entities within its portfolio, aimed at assessing progress in the delivery and performance of digital and communications infrastructure across the province, with a particular focus on improving connectivity and expanding access to communication services. SENTECH has been actively present throughout the oversight engagements as part of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies ecosystem, contributing technical input and providing updates on broadcast infrastructure and coverage expansion initiatives. The insights gained during this oversight visit will support ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure rollout, improve service delivery, and advance universal access to communication services across South Africa. SENTECH remains committed to working collaboratively with the Portfolio Committee, the Department, and all sector partners in advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda. |
SENTECH AT EMPOWA YOUTH WEEK 20-24 April – SEBOKENG
Sentech participated at Day Two of the Vaal Empowa Youth Week event, held today in Sebokeng under the theme “Powering the Youth Economy: Health, Wellness and Longevity Economy.” The event seeks to unlock opportunities for youth in the Vaal while supporting township-based enterprises.
As part of the DCDT entities, our presence at this initiative supports government’s efforts to empower young people by exposing them to opportunities within the ICT sector. Sentech’s participation highlighted its role in advancing connectivity, inclusivity, and digital transformation. The platform enabled meaningful engagement with young people, offering insights into career pathways, digital skills development, and the critical role of technology in bridging communities. This platform enables us to contribute to building awareness about careers in technology and to inspire the next generation of innovators.

SENTECH Participates in Interdepartmental Career Choices Expo in Mpumalanga
SENTECH participated in the Interdepartmental Career Choices Expo held last Friday in Daggaskraal, Mpumalanga, as part of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) entities. The expo was attended by over 2,700 Grade 11 learners from the Mpumalanga Ehlanzeni District and served as an important platform to expose learners to career opportunities within the digital and communications sector.
As part of the programme, SENTECH showcased the impact of the SA Connect initiative, highlighting its role in expanding connectivity and advancing digital inclusion, particularly within the Gert Sibande District. The initiative aligns with broader government efforts to equip young people with relevant knowledge and skills for participation in the digital economy.
SENTECH continues to play a critical role in supporting inclusive connectivity and enabling access to digital opportunities across the country.
SENTECH at AfricaCom 2025
Sentech took part in this year’s Africa Tech Festival (AfricaCom), which ran from 10 to 14 November in Cape Town. AfricaCom brings together leading technology companies from across the continent to exchange ideas and work towards closing the digital divide in Africa. The event also gives participants a chance to highlight their progress in
delivering new, technology-based solutions. By joining the festival, Sentech showed our continued commitment to sharing knowledge, driving innovation and helping improve lives through digital technology.

On 16 May 2025, Minister Solly Malatsi inaugurated a cutting-edge ICT Cyberlab at Morutwa Secondary School in Madiga Village, Limpopo. Developed with Telkom and supported by SENTECH, the launch marked World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The initiative empowers learners with digital tools, promoting education, inclusion, and community development.

Empowering Women Technologically
On 26 August 2022, Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni of the Department of Communications & Digital Technologies engaged with women installers supporting South Africa’s analogue switch-off. The Broadcast Digital Migration programme has empowered women socio-economically, aligning with Women’s Month. The Minister was joined by executive staff from state-owned entities.

President’s Digital Vision
SENTECH is in Lusikisiki supporting President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call for Khawuleza District Coordination Model. Today the President launched the model, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Technologies, its entities and stakeholders including SENTECH have provided broadband (SA Connect and Telkom WiFi) and DTT connectivity at Lusikisiki Village Clinic.
Innovation in Wireless Tech
Mr SENTECH Head of Innovation, Mr Dumisa Ngwenya, delivered a presentation on 4IR with 5G and IOT. WAC is a platform for wireless researchers to share their results, call for comments and collaborations, and exchange innovative ideas of leading-edge research in wireless technologies.
