Lavan Gopaul was appointed to the SENTECH Board as a Non-Executive Director on 01 July 2025

Member of the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority, Lavan is a Director and Fund Manager at Merchant Afrika, a Private Equity firm. He serves on the boards and as a trustee of various public and private sector entities.

With a distinguished career spanning senior roles in stock broking, fund management, and law, he has worked at leading global institutions including Merrill Lynch, HSBC, and Bernstein. Gopaul has published academic journal articles on Tax, Law and the political economy and writes a regular opinion column for the Sunday Tribune.

He has previously served as an adjunct academic at MANCOSA, where he lectured and facilitated debate on Economics, Finance, Investments, Tax and law. For over 30 years, Lavan has been a familiar voice in the media as an economic and financial analyst, offering insights and expert commentary across various platforms.
