Dr. Sylvia Sathekge was appointed to the SENTECH Board as a Non-Executive Director on 10 December 2025

Dr. Sathekge is a distinguished leader with over 25 years of multi-sector experience in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and business strategy. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded large-scale digital transformations and technology-enabled business evolutions within the Agriculture, Manufacturing, Mining, and Public Service sectors.

A hallmark of her leadership is her wide global operational reach; while based in South Africa, she has successfully led IT strategies and managed diverse, cross-functional teams spanning multiple countries and continents. Dr. Sathekge brings significant fiduciary and advisory depth to the SENTECH Board, having previously served as a Partner at SNG Grant Thornton. Her experience in the professional services environment, combined with her track record of serving on various boards across both the public and private sectors, allows her to navigate the complexities of commercial sustainability alongside the unique regulatory mandates of state-owned entities.

Currently serving as a Professor of Practice at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), she bridges the gap between academic theory and high-level corporate governance. Her expertise in complex problem-solving, business process engineering, and strategic stakeholder engagement is underpinned by her Doctorate in Business Administration, providing a rigorous analytical lens to her oversight. Recognized as a visionary in the digital landscape, she has received numerous accolades, including the World 200 CIO Award and consecutive rankings as a Top 50 Digital Leader. On the SENTECH Board, Dr. Sathekge leverages her unique blend of international technical mastery and strategic leadership to drive innovation and ensure the organization’s long-term digital resilience.
