Alexandria Procter is a 32-year-old South African entrepreneur, public sector director, writer and broadcaster, serving on the board of SENTECH SOC Ltd as a non-executive director and Chair of the Investment Committee. She brings a cross-sectoral background in technology, startup venture development and investment, and public policy, with a focus on frontier innovation, public-private partnerships, and sustainable growth.
As an undergrad student at the University of Cape Town, she was elected to the Student Representative Council, and went on to become the founder of DigsConnect.com, Africa’s largest student housing marketplace, which lists over one million beds in more than 400 cities globally. The platform raised one of the largest seed rounds for a South African startup—marking the largest ever for a female-founded tech company in the country.
Alexandria’s leadership in entrepreneurship and youth policy has earned her national recognition, including cover features in Forbes Africa and Fast Company. At 30 years old, she published her bestselling memoir Upstart with NB Publishers, chronicling her journey through tech, governance, and activism.
Appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to the board of the National Youth Development Agency at age 28, she led the agency’s One Million for Democracy campaign, successfully registering more than 1 million young South Africans to vote in the 2024 national election. She previously served on the board of the Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative and has advised several public and private sector entities on innovation strategy and value creation.
In 2024, following a UNDP strategy lab, she founded House of Pharos, an SDG-aligned venture studio and $10 million early-stage fund focused on investing in companies solving global development challenges. A documentary series currently in production follows the work of the fund and its portfolio companies.
Alexandria holds a Bachelor of Science from UCT and has recently been awarded a fully funded merit scholarship to pursue her Master of Science at the University of Oxford.
She is passionate about building bridges between technology and governance and is committed to supporting SENTECH’s role in delivering reliable, inclusive, and future-fit digital infrastructure for South Africa. Outside of her professional roles, she is an avid adventurer, sports player, and writer with interests ranging from aviation to development economics. She is pursuing her private pilot’s license, is a member of Mensa South Africa and Mensa UK, and is grounded in her Roman Catholic faith.
