The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mr Solly Malatsi, together with SENTECH, will officially unveil a new computer laboratory at Soutpan Primary School in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, on Tuesday, 20 October 2026.
The initiative forms part of SENTECH’s Socio-Economic Development (SED) Programme, which seeks to expand access to digital learning opportunities and equip learners with essential digital skills to participate meaningfully in an increasingly connected world.
The newly established computer laboratory is equipped with 40 tablets, 10 computers, 40 headsets, tablet covers, desks and chairs, a storage trolley, air conditioning and a refurbished classroom. The facility will also benefit from VSAT internet connectivity, with three years of connectivity provided to support access to online educational resources.
The unveiling will be attended by representatives from the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT), SENTECH, the Department of Higher Education and Training, Eastern Cape education authorities, the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality and the school community.
