Signal Distribution
Signal distribution information.
Broadcasting in South Africa has historically always been viewed from a rather one-dimensional perspective. It was either audio or video, delivered to an audience via conventional radio and TV platforms. It was easy to regulate, and well suited the political and social agendas of the day.
Today, regulators, broadcasters and signal distributors alike are being subjected to growing technological and commercial influences and an explosion of complex and pressing choices. And any future growth within the industry will undoubtedly be driven by those who not only grasp the elements of change but are able to apply them.
The very concept of broadcasting has changed. Value elements are being refined and delivered in ways that are far more advantageous to audiences. Text and graphics are now combined at the coding and transmission levels to create “data objects” that are consequently far more adaptable and universal in application. The result is that consumers are now in a position to influence content more than ever before.
